The material used for a bicycle handlebar is of paramount importance, because a handlebar failure is almost certain to cause serious injury to the rider. However the potential weight savings achieved from different materials can be significant, Steel is very strong and relatively inexpensive, but it’s too heavy for most high-end bicycles. Titanium is strong and light, but it’s extremely expensive. Carbon fiber handlebars are very likely to develop weak points and catastrophically fail.
